Stretch ceilings are more convenient and more profitable than suspended ceilings for the following reasons:
- Installation speed: the installation of a stretch ceiling takes one day, while the installation of a suspended ceiling can take up to three to four days.
- Easy to install: it is much easier and faster to stretch film or fabric on baguettes than to mount drywall sheets on a frame.
- Moisture resistance: stretch ceilings made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) can be installed in rooms with high humidity, for example, in the kitchen or bathroom. They are also capable of holding a large volume of water in the event of a leak from above.
- Loss of height in the room: stretch ceilings eat up about 5 cm of the height of the room, while suspended ceilings take up three times more space.
- Durability: high-quality stretch ceilings can last for more than 20 years, while the service life of plasterboard ceilings is approximately 2-3 decades.
- Appearance: Stretch ceilings offer more design options, including glossy, matte, velvet and leather surfaces, as well as various shades and patterns.
